
Step 3: How Do I Get Started?
Be brave! Sometimes organizations will ask for volunteers on their website or in ads but sometimes you just have to call them up and offer to help. Likewise, a neighbour who needs help won’t put an ad in the newspaper – be brave and offer to lend a hand.
There are tons of ways you can volunteer but it’s up to you to pick something and make it happen. Talk to your teacher, guidance counselor or a parent for more advice on making the first move.
Most volunteer positions are pretty informal but some might ask for a resume and interview. Here are a few tips to help you out:
