Raymond Black and Dalmar Abuzeid from TV’s Degrassi talk about why it’s important for teenagers to volunteer.
Transcript
I feel like youth feel like they are helpless in helping anybody else in the world. I don’t think we mean to leech off society and just take and take and take but we don’t know that we can do anything to help or give back.
Like I said it before; we have to ask to go to the washroom so we don’t know we can do anything else. But, you actually can. You can actually get up and change just even your daily routine. Like, start saving water, start saving electricity, start eating everything on your plate please.
You can do just simple things like changing your daily routine will actually have an impact even though you might think it’s small, it’s an impact. And, if everyone did that, how many things would be saved and how better, like, the world would be, as corny as that sounds.
Everybody’s got a talent – it might be singing, it might be dancing, it might be this or that – just put that to some sort of use and use it to help your friends, use it to help your brothers and sisters all over the world.
Free the Children is a massive network – I mean, if you want to look at what’s inspiring, take a look at the founder Craig Kielburger. Take a look at his life. If that’s not inspiring, I don’t know what is. Just take a second to go educate yourself about all the different people from all over the world that are involved in Free the Children and that in itself is enough inspiration to see that if all these other people are doing it, why not just give it a chance.
