Degrassi’s Sarah Barrable-Tishauer talks about teen volunteering.

Transcipt

I’m Sarah Barrable-Tishauer and I play Liberty Van Zant on Degrassi.

You know, I think that a lot of youth feel they don’t have much of a voice, they don’t have much power because we’re used to kind of being deemed these really apathetic, you know that we don’t feel like we can do anything to change the world.

And, I think that you just need to go out there and you need to get involved with organizations like Free the Children. And, even from something as small as just like having a bake sale and using those profits to go to an organization or towards perhaps a trip overseas to actually see what’s going on in the world, you know, that does so much.

And even there’s things at home, encouraging your family to turn off lights, have shorter showers. I think there’s so many things you can do and as a young person we have so much power that we don’t even know that, you know, we’re going to grow up and we’re going to be the next leaders and we have to create this world that you know, our peers are going to live in. And, so, we can start right now by just doing little things and spreading the word and talking to people about how important it is to think about people who are less fortunate than you and yeah, Free the Children is such a great way to do that.
